Lansing Michigan Sell Your House Tips Before Buying, Top Advice from Previous Sellers.

Michigan Home Owners, what do you know about moving with kids, packing, buying a new home or selling your house? We asked Greater Lansing MI residents in local communities for their advice when asked the following question, "What are some tips you can provide folks who are currently selling their home but still need to live in it?" Below are responses from previous sellers in your town. Thank you to our Facebook community members of Grand Ledge, Dewitt, Saint Johns, Ovid Elsie and Portland Michigan in Ingham, Clinton and Eaton Counties.

"Declutter- Box up all the knick-knacks and the things you don't use everyday. Take down all the personal and family photos. Even though you may have done a beautiful job decorating your home you need to simplify it. The perspective buyer needs to envision their stuff fitting in your home. The fewer things you have in the home the larger your rooms will look."
"Don't buy another house until that one is sold!"
"Having someone else move everything and be willing to spend the money and hire a local moving company to push boxes rather than doing it yourself and adding additional stress."
"Make sure it is spotless and well organized"
"Smells are everything. Cook fish OUTSIDE on the grill. Otherwise, that smell just lingers for days, especially if you're using your air conditioning in the summer heat."
"Clean out closets and get rid of all the things that you have not used for a number of years."
"If you have pets, make sure all toys, food and water dishes are in a plastic tote and take any thing that pet related, including pets with you when you have showings. People may be turned off just knowing pets were in the house due to allergies and fear of animals marking or having potty accidents on the floor. Of course cleaning the house spotless goes without saying."
